J.O. Morgan lives in a farm cottage in the Scottish Borders. He writes book-length narrative poems for which he has received a number of accolades.
His first three books were published by CB editions. Natural Mechanical (2009), won the Aldeburgh First Collection Prize; its sequel, Long Cuts (2011), was shortlisted for a Scottish Book Award. At Maldon (2013) was shortlisted for the 2014 Saltire Society Poetry Book of the Year Award.
The poet has been widely noted as a remarkable performer of his own work, rendering the whole of At Maldon from memory.
In 2015, his fourth book-length poem, In Casting Off, appeared in hardback from HappenStance press. This time, a love story — a totally different kind of book from the previous three. But then, this is a poet who has no intention of repeating himself.
In 2016, Interference Pattern — a completely different work again — was shortlisted both for the T.S. Eliot prize and the Saltire Award.
What will he do next?
