Heather Trickey was a social science research fellow at Cardiff University. Her professional specialisms were public health policy intervention and parenthood.
She lived with her husband and four children in Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan. She was an open water swimmer, the sea off the Welsh coast her favourite element.
She loved poetry all her life, and wrote poems for most of her life. Until her last three or four years, however, she kept this largely to herself. But then she began to attend poetry events regularly, enjoyed open mic, and relished the dangerous company of poets.
A alarming diagnosis in 2020 accelerated her impulse to write and to share her work. For some time, she had been on the ‘watch’ list of HappenStance Press and, even in the lockdown year of Covid 19, there was never any hesitation about publishing Sorry About The Mess.
Heather died in July, 2021. She is much missed.
