Theresa Muñozwas born on St. Patrick’s Day to Spanish-Filipino immigrants in Vancouver, Canada. Some of her literary influences have been Canadian poet Anne Carson, American poets Kay Ryan and Gerald Stern and Scottish poets Kathleen Jamie and Tom Leonard.
She has won the Norman L. Rothstein Award for Poetry, the Kirkpatrick Dobie Award, and a British Columbia Arts Council Award, as well as performing poems at various festivals and literature nights in Scotland, including the Aye Write festival, Wigtown Book Festival, Inky Fingers and Reading the Leaves.
She is currently Overseas Research Scholar at the University of Glasgow where she is finishing her doctoral dissertation: ‘Glasgow Outsider: The Work of Tom Leonard’.
