Gina Wilson hAD always written adult poetry but was published first as a children’s writer—novels (Faber), poetry (Cape, picture books (Walker Books). In this context, she was short-listed for the Carnegie Medal, the Kurt Maschler Award, the Smarties Prize and the Bisto Book of the Year Award.
Her adult poetry first began to appear in 1996, since when it was published in a wide range of magazines and anthologies. She won the Frogmore Prize in 1997 and the Lace Open Poetry Competition in 1999.
She was married with three grown-up children and two grand-daughters. She lived in Oxford and worked as a psychotherapist.
She died in 2022 and will be much missed.
