Black and white photo of author looking slightly to the right with a relaxed friendly expression. She has hair that just touches her shoulders and wears glasses and an open necked shirt. Behind her could be a window, could be a picture...Joan Lennon is a Canadian Scot, living and writing in the Kingdom of Fife, in a flat with a fine view of Dundee and the silvery Tay. She has had novels, stories and poems published for readers of all ages. She writes historical adventures, science fiction and fantasy for young adults, funny stories for younger audiences, and gripping tales for kids who do not always relish reading. She has appeared in festivals, libraries and schools from Shetland to London, and Stornoway to Sweden.

Joan has a keen interest in collaborative work and has taken part in a number of projects with the writers’ collective 26 and Off the Rails Arthouse, producing poetry in response to museum artefacts, contemporary paintings, landscapes and photographs. Her poetry pamphlet Her Lines, My Lines (in collaboration with artist Kyla Tomlinson) was commissioned by the BOOKMARK Festival, and came out of her time as writer in residence for East Perthshire.

She is currently a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of Dundee, 2016-2019.
