Niall Campbell is originally from the Western Isles of Scotland. He studied English Literature at Glasgow University, and in 2009 went on to complete an MLitt in Creative Writing at the University of St Andrews.
In 2011 he received an Eric Gregory Award and a Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship. His work has been published in magazine including: Poetry Review, Magma, The Dark Horse, and The Literateur.
In early 2012 he begins a Scottish Arts Trust funded travel book on contemporary Scottish culture, retracing Edwin Muir’s route from his, A Scottish Journey.
His first full collection, Moontide, was PBS recommended, and shortlisted for the Fenton Aldeburgh First Collection Prize, the Saltire First Book of the Year Award, the Forward Prize for Best First Collection, the Michael Murphy Memorial Prize, and it was winner of the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award.
