Matthew StewartMatthew Stewart was born in Farnham, Surrey, in 1973. Following a comprehensive school education, he took a degree in modern languages at St Peter's College, Oxford.

For the last seventeen years, he has lived in Extremadura, Spain, where he works as the export manager and blender for a local winery, VinaOliva. His poems have been widely published in UK magazines and he blogs at

His most recent HappenStance publication, Tasting Notes, was launched in London at the Poetry Book Fair (see photo below). It was a unique launch, in that the poetry (about wine) was delivered as the punters tasted the wine itself. Even now, you can order both together - there's a link from the shop page to Bat & Bottle, which will send you the wine at discount.

There is also a flim of Matthew reading Tasting Notes, some of it set among the vineyards. Not to be missed!
