At the age of 19, Olive Dehn (while staying with her aunt in Germany) was deported under armed guard by the Gestapo—for subversive verse posted home to Punch.

After an extraordinary life as children’s writer, organic farmer and peace campaigner, she found time in her nineties to publish her first collection of poems. It was the HappenStance pamphlet Out of My Mind, (2006) a collector’s item if ever there was one.

She died in March 2007.
