Maria Taylor was born in Nottinghamshire, raised in London and now lives in Leicestershire. She is Greek Cypriot in origin. Photograph of Maria, with her cheek rested against her hand. Her face takes up most of the square picture, large and dark brooding eyes and a deep red lipsticked mouth. She looks both sad and sultry. Lovely.

Her debut collection Melanchrini was published by Nine Arches Press in 2012 and shortlisted the following year for the Michael Murphy Memorial Prize.

Her poems have appeared in a range of magazines. She's Reviews Editor for Under the Radar magazine and has written reviews for several publications, including The TLS. She also assists in organising poetry readings at the popular Shindig event in Leicester.

She also works at De Montfort University as a part-time Creative Writing Tutor and teaches for local workshops.
